More Lockdown Versions of String Quartets for Play Along at Home Uploaded

Several more lock down versions to play along at home have been uploaded.   The sheet music is one of the parts of the quartet.  The audio file is a recording of the whole quartet but of just the remaining three parts.  It is therefore possible to play a string quartet home alone while in lockdown.  A 'count in' at the beginning means you can start playing at the right time

A standard version of the string quartet, 'Apple Pie and Custard' Op.5 No.1 has been uploaded.

A standard version of the string quartet, 'Apple Pie and Custard'  Op.5 No.1 from The Stena Suite has been uploaded.  The file uploaded contains the score and all the parts.  It is possible to get this one quartet on its own or alternatively, all eleven quartets that make up The Stena Suite (Op.5 Nos.1-11) which has also been uploaded as a collection book.

All the Stena Suite, a set of eleven short string quartets have been uploaded.  These follow the same philosophy of great to play, great to listen to as the solo piano pieces also found here.  The quartets are written for intermediate to advanced amateur string players.

All compositions of Opus 4 (The Godfather Suite) have been made available in one file for those who want to avoid downloading them all separately. They are also available as individual files for those who want to pick and choose.

Eight new compositions added

The remaining seven compositions for solo piano in The Callum Collection (Opus 7) have been added along with the first composition in The Godfather Suite (Opus 4), also for solo piano, called The Kalamunda Lullaby.  There are audio files for each.  More of The Godfather Suite will be added soon.

Assen Andante Opus 7. No.3 on Musicaneo

The Assen Andante contains some of the most interesting harmonies in The Callum Collection (Opus 7).   Enjoy the F# in bar 34.   There is deliberate avoidance of a perfect cadence in the tonic key during much of the composition. While the full range of the keyboard is used with some passages that may appear  potentially intimidating , it is easier to play than it looks at first sight.  The ending should be played with great sensitivity.

Newbury Nutbush Opus 7. No.2 on Musicaneo

The syncopation in the Newbury Nutbush is pretty tricky to play with the activity of the two hands cutting across one another very strongly.   It might be fun for two people to play, each playing one hand.   It is upbeat and fun!
